Spent last weekend in Paris with my college's Art and Photography Dept. It was really good fun as college trips always are, very late nights/mornings playing Poker with gelatine sweets, then up in the morning to walk around shooting stuff ... such as:

A friendly face:

A park:

A fictional low-budget Casino:

Breakfast with André Kertesz:

Some cigarettes:

Perhaps a little wine:

Had to do something of the Eiffel Tower:

A picture postcard from La Défense:

And rather a few too many more ...

Tschüß!

Owain.

Why must I always make people miss their former homes when posting photographs?

I quite like the stair shot...

That one is definitely the most popular of the lot. Only came about because I happened to be accompanying someone who is scared of heights (and got half way up and elected not to continue) back down, spotted the arrows and camera to the face.

Nice work Owain..good atmosphere catch..

Yes, I miss Paris too. I lived there for a whiles (when I worked - did ads - for a well known anisette company) and actually proposed to my wife Emily there only 6 weeks after we met back in 1988 in a little hotel on the Ave Bosquet..

Here's an idea, maybe Frome College should pay for me to come over and talk to a class or two...and then we could all go to the bird gardens at Rode (where I lost my first ever piece of camera gear, a CP...)for a session with some Peacocks and then to Limply Stoke for some lunch and a nice pub curry...

Thanks Andrew.

That's a really nice story, goes along with the most romantic city in the world claim.

Well, Frome College still exists and I'd certainly welcome you taking a class instead of either of my current teachers. Your idea sounds like what I'd do if I were teaching - get out of the classroom and take some photos with them. We don't need our hands holding at A Level but, it'd still be fun to do more trips like the one to London and this one to Paris. I shot Paris the same way I'd shoot Frome so, it doesn't have to be anywhere special.

Your CP may well be lost forever because Rode Bird Gardens closed down a few years ago and the land has been sold to developers who, as far as I know, haven't actually done anything with it yet. The birds were all re-homed. Really sad, we took my great aunt who was 94 at the time out there about a month before they closed and she really enjoyed it. Especially sad that it was closed and nothing has been done in the years since.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

Owain.
