It looks like I now have a need to obtain season credentials for covering World Challenge events. In the past, I've covered World Challenge because I was there covering ALMS, so I'm familiar with their processes, contacts, etc.

But I've never dealt with World Challenge. Do I contact them? Do I contact SCCA Pro Racing? I've been unable to find anything directly relevant on either of their web sites.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm sure Jimmy and John will have loads of information for you! My guess is you would contact SCCA, but I've never dealt with the WC folks.

Heh ... Jimmy John. I think that was the name of a pizza or sub shop back in my college days.

Now I'm hungry!

Sigh, I think I found it.

SCCA's web site is busticated. http://www.world-challenge.com/competitors/forms.php has a "2007 SCCA Pro Racing Credential Application" form. SCCA's link tries to go to "forms.php". Oops.

It's an SCCA credential. Sadly, I only do this once a year... and don't pay attention. Somehow, it just always seems to work out.

Try emailing Linda Randall at SCCAPro.

Just keep in mind that you should only apply for a hard card if you plan on attending at least 70% of the races, same with IMSA. I'm not sure how strict SCCA is, but its not that great to have them give you a hardcard and then only show up every now and then. It wont win you points when it comes to applying another time. If you arent going to all the events, its not that big a deal to just apply to each event you will attend and will make it look better to the series in the end.

Just a suggestion and something to keep in mind.

Jimmy,

Good points to consider for sure. I have a World Challenge client that I will be working for, so I'm talking with them to see just what they're willing to take care of. I know that IMSA wants at least 60% attendance before they'll issue a hard card. SCCA doesn't say in their application. Right now, from the published schedule and my calendar, it only looks like one date that I will not be missing.
