Interesting approach... I'd rather lay in the back of the first car than mount the camera to it, you'll get a more stable and better composed shot. I do like the idea with the flash though. It may work when you're in a bind (only you and one other person), but I think the results would be less hit-and-miss holding the camera yourself. Now, for video work... this is a REALLY cool way to do it.
