Hey..For the longest time I was using a pc..then I got a macbook and ended up selling off my pc..The question I have is what programs do you guys use for viweing thumbnails? I had to put together a cd for a client and I had to search through a bunch of different folders looking for pics but it was really a pain to always have to click on the jpeg to see a small preview it..On my old pc it the thumbails would show up right away..So what program do you guys use for browsinga through pics.
Thanks

iView Media Pro is my cataloging solution. It does a lot. They have a free download.
I don't know if they have native code support yet.

I've made the mover over to Aperture and loving every minute of it. For me, it has become the full workflow solution, from card download to final output... it's all Aperture. I rarely use Photoshop unless I'm doing serious surgery.

Open folder, in the top left select the big icon view (has 4 little boxes) the click "apple" + J (or you can go to "view" -> "show view options" ) then check "show icon preview" which will make it show thumbnails of the photos. You can use the scroll bar at top to adjust the size of the thumbnails

Photomechanic is what I like. I like it a lot better than Aperture. I worked with Aperture for the month trial and it just doesnt handle viewing and choosing as well as PM imo.

I prefer photomechanic as well, but what I described above is Jeremy is trying to do

I've been looking to replace my very unreliable ACDSee 7.0 with a fast browser. I loved it for it's speed and sorting ability, but the damn thing just crashes far to much on all four of my machines no matter how many times I reinstall it. Photomechanic looks and sounds to be the best ticket for a fast brower/sorting program. Any downsides?

No, have been using it for years (on Macs)
You can download a demo www.camerabits.com

I checked out the website and noticed that I can try it. I'll DL it when I get back to the office. Thanks!

Ahh, that is a cool trick if you just want to see thumbs. I didnt really read the question the best to begin with. That is a good trick Morgan. I knew JT lets you keep posting here for some reason. :D

But I am a one trick pony. :p
To be honest, I had not discovered that you can view the thumbnails like that until I saw Jeremy's question and thought, that ain't right...
I always used photomechanic to do that anyway.
Also discovered that if you drag a photo from the internet into PM it will open up (without saving it) so you can view the EXIF, which is a bit handier than PS for me since I rarely open PS on my laptop
