Looks like some useful information here. Plus a book.
Anyone know anything about her?

I have only heard about her from her posts on the APA thread and reading her blog.

I keep meaning to buy her book. She's very very knowledgeable IMO.

I have seen Carolyn in person twice and she is a great advocate for photographers. First off- she is an accomplished photographer herself- this gives her the passion to defend the rights of our profession.

I first met her in April (IIRC) 2006 when she held an all-day Copyright for Photographers workshop. And just a few days ago at the International Society for Aviation Photography Annual Symposium.

She does a very good job at getting past the myths about copyright that people take for fact. I have her book (pre-ordered it at the 06 seminar) and haven't read it cover to cover yet. But I would think that her book and the one by Bert Krages should give you a good primer on your rights.

The big things that confuse people IMO are the differences in the power and protections of Privacy, Copyright and Trademark law. You can be clear in one, and have broken the other... And the fact that just because you are right in the eyes of the law, it will not prevent someone from attempting to bully you with letters from their lawyers.

Sometimes it could be very expensive to prove your right
