I believe I see some familiar faces from other forums that have been to formula D the drifting event, I was curious as to what advice you would give other photographers. I am pretty sure I scored a press pass.

Here is the layout to the seattle event which I am going to.

70-200 is pretty much standard for shooting a drifting event, a 300mm as well as a 1.4 or 2x extender will also be helpful.

as with any motorsport, you should use a slower shutter speed to get some blur on the background.

have you ever shot drifting, or any sort of motorsports before?

ps - the course for seattle hasn't been determined. the graphic they have on their site is just a filler.

hmmm. watch your background.

that is a simple rule, yet one of the most broken. no one wants to see 500 photos with awesome action and some big fat track helper with a blue jacket in the background messing up the shots.

oh and find andy and tell him todd says hi.

Todd -- good tip

Jackson were you at Sonoma? I won't be able to make evergreen but will be at Wall in sept.

I usually shoot with my 70-200 at around 1/125 or 1/160. My pics only turn out OK, nothing spectacular.
